Insurance claim photos an adjuster can verify
Last updated
Insurers are seeing more edited and AI-altered claim photos, so genuine ones get more scrutiny. CaptureSeal photos carry the time, address and GPS in the image and a seal an adjuster can check in any browser, so your evidence is quick to trust.
Why claim photos face more scrutiny
- Admiral reported claims fraud up 71% in 2025, partly from AI-edited images, and Aviva identified 18,400 suspect claims worth £233M, with growing “AI-manipulated damage documentation” (Lawyer Monthly, June 2026).
- Allianz reported a 300% rise in edited images in claims between 2021 and 2023 (PropertyCasualty360).
When fakes get easier, honest claimants pay with delays. A photo whose time, place and integrity can be checked in seconds answers the adjuster’s first questions.
What to photograph
- The scene, wide. Where the damage is, with landmarks or the building in frame.
- The damage, close. Several angles, with something for scale.
- Cause and context. A burst pipe, a fallen branch, the other vehicle and its plate.
- Serial numbers and receipts for damaged items.
- A short video walk-through. Free video is up to 30 seconds per clip; Pro has no limit, up to 4K.
Before anything goes wrong
Take a sealed inventory of your home, valuables and car now. Dated “before” photos are hard to argue with, and CaptureSeal keeps them in its vault and in Photos.
Sharing with your insurer
Send the original files or a PDF Evidence Report, with verify links. The adjuster scans a QR code or opens the link to see the signed record and can drop your file on the page to check it matches. They don’t need the app.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
Will my insurer accept CaptureSeal photos?
Insurers decide what evidence they accept, and we don’t make promises on their behalf. What CaptureSeal adds is a way for an adjuster to check, in a browser, that your photos weren’t edited and were taken when and where they say.
Should I photograph before damage happens?
Yes. Dated photos of your home, valuables, car and their condition, taken before anything goes wrong, are the most useful evidence when you claim.
Can I send the photos by email or WhatsApp?
Email keeps the original file intact. WhatsApp and most messaging apps recompress photos, so the copy won’t match its fingerprint, though its QR code still leads to the signed record. Send originals or an Evidence Report when it matters.
